N’Zogbia Subject Of Blackburn Interest
Blackburn are keen on Wigan Athletic’s Charles N’Zogbia and could be ready to make a £7 million bid in the New Year.
The 24-year-old winger is regarded as one of the Premier League’s most improved players but is looking to leave the DW Stadium and although he is keen to move back to France with Marseille a move within the Premier League looks more likely.
N’Zogbia was set for a move to Birmingham during the summer but after the two clubs had agreed a £9.5 million fee he was sent on his way by Blues’ boss Alex McLeish after making a last-minute demand of an £10,000 a week in wages.
Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is looking for one big-money signing in the January transfer window and is keen to bring N’Zogbia to Ewood. He is also keen to offload former Wigan frontman Jason Roberts and could offer him to Latics as part of the deal.
Allardyce is looking to pay around £7 million for the Frenchman and Wigan may accept the deal as N’Zobgia’s contract expires in the summer of 2012.

Kirkland Set for Leicester Loan
Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland could be set for a permanent move to Championship side Leicester City if his loan move goes well.
Kirkland lost his place to Oman international Ali Al-Habsi, who joined Wigan in a loan move from Bolton in August, and has been unable to regain his spot in the starting line-up.
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is keen to make the Al-Habsi deal a permanent signing and with Bolton intent on clearing at least some of their £93 million debts a January transfer looks on the cards for Al-Habsi who himself found first-team opportunities at Bolton hard to come by.
Kirkland is set to leave for Leicester in a loan deal following Wigan’s game with Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend and club owner Dave Whelan is said to be keen to let Kirkland go to the Walkers Stadium on a permanent basis as he tries to cut the club’s payroll.

Wigan Linked With £4m Move for Pratley
Wigan Athletic are being linked with a move for Swansea captain Darren Pratley.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez, who was formerly in charge at Swansea, is reported by the Daily Mirror to be set to bid £4 million for the midfielder who is also interesting Newcastle.
Pratley was linked during the summer with a move to Celtic.
Wigan are hoping to sign Spanish defender Adrian Lopez from Deportivo La Coruna. The 23-year-old was linked with a move to the DW Stadium in August following a week-long trial.
Lopez – also known by the nickname Piscu – broke into the Deportivo first team in 2007 having come through the ranks via their B team. After losing his place first-team opportunities became limited and eight appearances in 2008-09 were followed by just three last season.
It was thought that the 23-year-old Piscu was available on a free transfer but a new contract was apparently triggered automatically without his signature and Fifa may have to approve his current status.
Wigan Manager Martinez Accuses Muamba Of Recklessness

Wigan’s McCarthy Out For Up To Ten Weeks
Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has accused Bolton’s Fabrice Muamba of recklessness after James McCarthy was ruled out of action for up to 10 weeks.
McCarthy was stretchered off with an ankle injury half an hour into Saturday’s 1-1 draw between the two sides after going in to a tackle with Muamba.
“It was an unnecessary challenge, it was not malicious but it was reckless,” said Martinez.
“One of the most creative young players in the League is going to be out for up to 10 weeks. That is a football crime.”
Martinez admitted that McCarthy’s injury wasn’t as bad as he first feared
“It is obviously ligament damage in the right ankle,” he added.
“When it is swollen it is sometimes difficult to assess but there is no fracture, we hope.”

Kirkland May Consider Move
Wigan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland says he may look for a move away from the DW Stadium if he can’t force his way back into the Wigan first team.
Kirkland lost his place through injury at the start of the season and hasn’t regained it since loan signing Ali Al-Habsi arrived from Bolton. He was back between the sticks on Saturday when Al-Habsi was ineligible for the two sides’ meeting but it remains to be seen if he will keep his place for the Carling Cup clash with Swansea this week.
“If I am not playing too much between now and Christmas, I shall have to look at the situation. Now that I am fit, I want to play. It has been frustrating. We have another game on Tuesday and Ali has done really well.
“England is a different situation. I have been out of the picture for a long time and get bored hearing about it. I am just happy to be here.”
Wigan are believed to be keen to turn Al-Habsi’s loan spell into a permanent deal but Bolton boss Owen Coyle said recently that it would take a substantial offer for him to part with the Omani keeper.
Move On The Cards As Roberts Falls Down The Pecking Order
Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts is itching to move away from Ewood Park.
The 32-year-old was linked with a move back to former club Wigan during the summer and Latics’ boss Roberto Martinez is still said to be ready to do a deal. However, new Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is keen to make Roberts one of his first permanent signings at the Walkers Stadium.
Roberts has fallen even further down the Ewood Park pecking order with the arrival of Mame Biram Diouf on loan from Manchester United.
“There’s not much I can do – apart from keeping myself as fit as I can,” Roberts told the Daily Mirror. “If I’m called upon I will do the best job I can. If not, maybe we will look to do something in January or at the end of the season.”
Stoke City and Bayern Munich are now vying for Charles N’Zogbia’s signature in January.
The Potters are ready to offer Tuncay to Wigan as part-exchange for the want-away French winger whose move to Birmingham City broke down this summer. Bundesliga side Bayern Munich are also said to be interested although last week N’Zogbia was talking up a possible move to Marseille in January.

Bayern Interested In N’Zogbia
Bayern Munich are said to be interested in Wigan Athletic winger Charles N’Zogbia.
The 24-year-old was set to move to Birmingham in August but the move fell apart when he demanded an extra £10,000 on top of the £40,000 a week City were offering him.
Now Bayern are said to be ready to offer Wigan their £9 million asking price for N’Zogbia as well as paying him £50,000 a week.
Earlier this week N’Zogbia admitted that a move in January to French side Marseille was on the cards but it remains to be seen if the lure of one of Europe’s top clubs can lure him from a move to his homeland.

N’Zogbia Hopes for Marseille Move
Want-away Wigan star Charles N’Zogbia still hopes to move away from the DW Stadium in January.
The winger was set for a move to Birmingham in August but after the clubs had agreed a £9.5 million fee the deal fell apart when the Frenchman demanded an extra £10,000 a week on top of what he had already agreed with the Blues.
Now, N’Zobgia hopes to move back to his homeland in January and has hinted that a move to Marseille may be on the cards.
“I don’t see why I should not return to France,” he said. “Apparently Marseille have made approaches for me, and the door remains open for me to join them. Once the transfer window opens I will talk with my bosses.
“I made a mistake in trying to join Birmingham. I had a good talk with Roberto Martinez and he relies on me, but Wigan are a springboard for me.”

Wigan have snapped up Manchester United youngster Tom Cleverley on a season-long loan. The 21-year-old had been earmarked for a place in United’s first team this season after impressing on the pre-season US tour but Sir Alex Ferguson has opted to send him out to gain first-team experience.
Wigan are expected to make a £1 million bid to bring Blackburn striker Jason Roberts back to the club.
Roberts had a successful two-year spell at Latics before joining Rovers in 2008; however, the 32-year-old is surplus to requirements at Ewood Park and has been told he can look for another club.
Former Aston Villa defender Wilfred Bouma has signed for Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.
The 32-year-old had been linked with a move to Wigan but after training with PSV since the end of June he has now been handed a contract at the conclusion of a successful trial.
Bouma had an 11-year spell with PSV that ended with him moving to Villa in 2005 in a £3.5 million deal. He made 88 appearances for Villa in a five-year spell at the club but was released at the end of last season. Share

Wigan are set to sign Chelsea youngster Franco di Santo in a £2 million deal. The Latics originally hoped to take the Argentinian on loan but boss Roberto Martinez has now opted for a permanent deal and will sign the 20-year-old before the transfer window shuts.
Di Santo spent last season on loan at Blackburn for whom he made 22 appearances and scoring one goal.
Wigan are also keen to make Bolton keeper Ali al-Habsi’s loan move a permanent deal but Bolton are said to want £3 million for the Oman keeper.
Wigan are also looking to offer former Arsenal legend Robert Pires a way back into the Premier League. The 36-year-old is without a club after leaving Spanish side Villareal during the summer. Pires recently turned down an offer to join Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.
Cleverley Set For Wigan
The News Of The World suggests that Manchester United youngster Tom Cleverley will join Wigan Athletic on loan on Monday.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a loan move to either Bolton or Newcastle but looks set to make the short trip to the DW Stadium. Sir Alex Ferguson wants him to build on the experience he picked up during a season-long loan spell at Watford last season where Cleverley hit 11 goals in 33 games for the Hornets.
Cleverley was due to be brought in as a replacement for Charles N’Zogbia but the Frenchman’s £9.5 million move to Birmingham fell through on Friday.
Bouma Set for Wigan
Wigan are set to sign former Aston Villa defender Wilfred Bouma. The 32-year-old Dutchman left Villa at the end of last season and has been training with PSV Eindhoven. Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is looking to shore up his leaky defence and wants Bouma to act as an experienced head to marshal his back four.

Wigan’s Charles N’Zogbia has turned down a move to Birmingham City after failing to agree personal terms.
The two clubs had agreed a £9 million fee but the Frenchman demanded a £50,000-a-week wage and refused to move when Birmingham offered a slightly lower amount. Birmingham are also likely to pull out of the deal after they heard that N’Zogbia had written abusively about the transfer on the internet.
“We did everything that was asked of us and then the goalposts were moved at the last minute,” Birmingham manager Alex McLeish said yesterday.
City had an £8 million bid turned by Wigan during the close-season and were criticised by Latics’ manager Roberto Martinez by returning this week and first making a lower offer than had previously been turned down.
N’Zogbia missed Wigan’s first match of the season after a fall-out with manager Roberto Martinez.
The Wigan boss will be disappointed the deal hasn’t gone through as not only is he faced the prospect of having a player at the club who isn’t happy, but he had also lined up four new players with the proceeds from the transfer.
Birmingham are set to put in another bid for Wigan striker Charles N’Zogbia.
The Midlands side were criticised by Wigan boss Roberto Martinez, who turned down a bid for the Frenchman this week claiming it was lower than the £8 million bid he turned down at the end of May.
Now Birmingham are set to make an improved bid for the player, said to be £9 million, and hope to have the deal done-and-dusted for him to make his debut against Bolton on Sunday.
Wigan Pick Up Lopez
The Daily Mirror reports that Wigan Athletic have picked up striker Adrian Lopez from Deportivo La Coruna.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Malaga but scored only three goals in 28 games for the La Liga side.
Meanwhile, Wigan are also looking at a permanent deal for Bolton keeper Ali al-Habi, which will free up another slot for a loan player. Roberto Martinez hopes to wrap up a loan deal for Chelsea striker Franco di Santo although Mexican striker Guillermo Franco has yet to respond to an offer made to him earlier this week.
