Remy Transfer To Marseille Now In Doubt
Loic Remy’s £13 million transfer from Nice to Marseille is under threat after the discovery of a heart condition following the striker’s medical.
The defect did not show up at the time of scans taken as part of the medical but further investigation by Marseille’s medical staff have uncovered a heart defect which has threatened to derail the transfer.
Remy was due to be unveiled to the press as a Marseille player today.
“More tests will be performed on Monday to give clear answers to Loic,” Marseille club doctor Christophe Baudot said on Friday. “He will not play again as long as there are any doubts.”
Remy signed for the French champions on Thursday after being linked with a number of Premier League clubs including West Ham and Spurs.
The 23-year-old, who has two caps for France, was philosphical:
“I am a bit annoyed but it is my health after all and obviously we must look into it,” he said.
“The real shame is that these tests did not take place before. It was necessary for me to come to a club like Marseille to have tests which are more in depth.”
