Spurs transfer target Luis Fabiano has signed a new deal with Sevilla that will take him to 2013.

Spurs had been ready to put in a £15 million bid for the Brazilian striker amidst rumours that he was ready to leave the Spanish outfit. Fabiano was on the bench for Saturday’s win over Levante leading to rumours that negotiations had already begun, but the 29-year-old has signed an extension to his current deal which was due to expire next summer.

“This is a very happy day,” said Fabiano.

“This is my home and I will try to continue scoring goals and continue to keep making history for Sevilla. It’s a very special day for me.

“My first option was to renew with Sevilla. I rejected many offers and there were many interested teams. My desire was always to be here and what’s true is that we have made a great effort to renew the contract.”

The Brazilian had been tipped to move to Marseille during the close season but the French side baulked at paying the 18 million euro transfer fee.
