West Ham Linked With Ronaldinho And Beckham
West Ham are being linked with bids for Ronaldinho and David Beckham.
The Brazilian is available from AC Milan for a fee of around £6 million, but with wages of at least £90,000 a week. Even that figure would represent a wage cut for Ronaldinho, who earns around £150,000 a week in Italy. A number of Premier League clubs are said to have been sounded out about the Brazilian but only West Ham have followed up their interest.
Although Ronaldinho’s time at Milan hasn’t been deemed a success, he has managed a goal every three games for the Italian giants – down from a goal every other game during his five-year spell with Barcelona. His form picked up towards the end of last season and it was a surprise when he was not selected for Brazil’s World Cup side.
The Hammers are also keen on Beckham as they bid to move into the Olympic Stadium in 2013.
”David Beckham could play a massive part, because of his roots, in helping West Ham win the Olympic Stadium,” co-owner David Gold told the Sunday Express, “and maybe he can still play for us in the autumn of his career.
“For him to join a club like us and help us bring another dream to fruition would be perfect for everyone. We want him aboard.”
Lyon In Bid To Snatch Remy
The Loic Remy saga drags on with former club Lyon ready to counter any bid from West Ham, Arsenal or Liverpool.
Under the terms of the deal negotiated when Lyon sold Remy to Nice in 2008, they have first option on the player as long as they can match any other bid.
Lyon now have 48 hours to match bids from the Premier League trio and scupper Remy’s move to England.
Remy almost moved back to Lyon during the January transfer window but the two clubs were unable to agree a deal.
