Celtic Transfer News and Rumours, Saturday 12 June
Celtic, Bolton After Tosic
Celtic, Bolton Wanderers and Partizan Belgrade are all in for Serbian left-back Dusko Tosic, according to The Sun.
The 25-year-old had a short spell at QPR at the end of last season after a bizarre period at Portsmouth. Tosic cancelled his contract with Werder Bremen earlier this year in order to join Pompey, but despite being an unused substitute in their FA Cup tie with Southampton, the Premier League withheld his registration so he was unable to figure in any league games.
Tosic spent three years at Werder but he found first-team opportunities limited and made only 22 appearances for the German side.
Celtic To Make £1.3m Bid For Murphy
Neil Lennon wants to make Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy the first signing of his managerial reign at Celtic. Murphy has spent five years at the Stadium of Light but found first-team opportunities limited last season and was loaned out to Ipswich, where he scored six times in 18 appearances.
Murphy is said to be keen on the move, but while Sunderland initially asked for £1.7 million they are now said to be ready to accept £1.3 million. Ipswich are keeping an eye on proceedings as boss Roy Keane would be happy to make Murphy’s loan spell permanent.
Other Celtic targets include Joe Ledley, Liam Lawrence and Gary Hooper. Celtic look ready to accept defeat in their bid to sign Ledley, who could be on his way to Stoke. Talks with Ledley’s agents have hit a brick wall. The player wants £25,000 a week, which would make him one of Celtic’s top earners. A similar pay packet is being asked for by Liam Lawrence for whom Celtic have made a £1.5 million bid to Stoke City.
However, Celtic may have more luck with Scunthorpe striker Gary Hooper. Celtic are ready to make a £2 million bid for the striker who is keen on a move to Parkhead.
Spartak Back In For McGeady
Spartak Moscow may be ready to come back to Celtic with an improved bid for Aidan McGeady. Celtic rejected an £8.5 million bid for McGeady last week, which turned the Russian club’s attention to Lazio winger Pasquale Foggia. However, he has also rejected a move to Russia so Spartak are readying a £10 million offer for McGeady. (Daily Mail)
