Celtic Target Bullard Wants £2m Pay-Off
Celtic target Jimmy Bullard wants a £2 million pay-off and a free transfer if he is to leave Hull City. Even with that pay-off the £45,000 a week midfielder will give up a huge sum to cancel his contract while cash-strapped Hull will get his huge wages off their books. Bullard cost the Tigers £5 million in January 2009 and is looking to line up a move to either Celtic or Newcastle. (Daily Mirror)
Stoke are ready to let Liam Lawrence go to Celtic, providing they meet their £2 million valuation. Manager Tony Pulis paid tribute to Lawrence saying “I’ve never wanted Liam to leave and if he doesn’t, then I’ll be very happy to have him here when we all report back next month. He’s been one of the best signings this football club has made because he’s played a massive part in what we’ve tried to achieve here over the last few years.” However, Lawrence only made 14 starts last seasons and feels he may have to leave the club for regular first-team football. Meanwhile Stoke are ready to bid for Celtic target, Joe Ledley. The midfielder was in Scotland last week to talk about a move to the SPL and has already interested Serie A side Roma along with Fulham, Stoke and Blackburn. However, Stoke are confident they can fend off the competition and sign a player for considerably less than the £6 million they bid for Ledley two years ago. Although the 23-year-old Ledley is out of contract at Cardiff City the Welsh club are entitled to a fee as he is under 24 years old and can expect compensation of around £3 million. (Daily Mirror)
Celtic will be taking Simon Ferry back to Parkhead after the defender impressed at the League One outfit Swindon Town. However Swindon chairman Andrew Fitton is confident of taking at least one Celtic player either permanently or on loan.
“You don’t know if that will be loans or permanent transfers until you have further conversations, but we are talking.”
